2008-12-21 [That Nik Guy]: Quite frankly, I find the point of this wiki rude, and immature. I'm not here to stick up for the book or movie, because I'm not overly fond of them -- but the point is: You've made a wiki in order to completely tear at something that someone put their heart and soul in to, criticism is fine -- but to make something like this.. caused me to lose a lot of respect for you.
2008-12-21 [Yami]: I'm not tearing it down, everyone has their own reasons for disliking Twilight, mine happens to be the pure ignorance of the posers that are popping up everywhere because of Twilight. The people that have read or seen Twilight and think that they know everything about vampires. I commend the author on the abilty to make such a popular book, but I Hate the posers that follow it so dumbly.
2008-12-21 [That Nik Guy]: Then you should have some wiki about hating the retarded people who followed the wonderful world of Twilight.
2008-12-22 [Yami]: Well, I figured I'd lump it together for those who hate it because they are sick of hearing about it, or for what ever reason.
2008-12-24 [windowframe]: Just because someone put their heart and soul into something doesn't mean that it should be immune to the harshest criticism. That's just silly. No one should have to pretend a piece of literature is better than it is just because someone put lots of effort into it.
Also, I can't really see what's written on this wiki that's caused such a vehement reaction in you. From here, it looks like you're overreacting. Lots. You're also telling someone off for being rude - and then being quite rude yourself. Maybe you don't mean to be rude, but it's certainly how you come across. (So maybe you need to consider that [Yami] didn't mean the wiki to be rude either, and you just interpreted incorrectly).
Incidentally, hating on people is always far, far worse than hating on a book (no matter who's precious little baby that books happens to be).
2008-12-25 [That Nik Guy]: I really think you misread what I said -- hate the book, that's fine I don't care. I'm no fan of it, I was saying to create a wiki such as this is rude. To create a public place to hate on anything that someone put their heart and soul in to. This wiki is equivilent to say... me creating a wiki just to hate and trash your art.
Maybe it's my philosophy, but I feel that anything someone has put effort, and their heart in to should be respected -- and in my opinion I wasn't rude at all, I simply said what I wanted to and worded it rather nicely if I do say so myself, if I wanted to be rude I could have said: "What the fuck, you childish cunt... that's rude as fuck of you to go and create a wiki like this to trash on something someone worked hard on."
But I didn't now did I, I maintained civility in what I said.
2008-12-25 [windowframe]: Well if we're defining "rude" as swearing lots, then Yami certainly wasn't rude, either. But I think most people are intelligent enough to agree that there's more to being rude than cursing every third word. If you didn't intend to be rude then you're wording left much to be desired, obviously, since you still managed to appear rude (This is because your attitude is haughty, and high-and-might
But you're barging in here and sort of demanding that other people follow your own principles and morals without explanation - to me that's far ruder than swearing. "This is childish. You shouldn't hate anything that someone put effort into." Er, why? I'm not allowed to dislike something intensely because they worked very hard at it? Uh, why?? Your philosophy is flawed. If someone puts their heart and soul into creating a plan to ruin someone else's life, why should I show it anything more than contempt? If someone puts their heart into creating a piece of literature that promotes racism and violence, why should I show it anything other than contempt? Yes, those are both more extreme examples - but you made a universal statement. Either revise it or come up with a damn good reason why I have to respect anything, even if it's complete trash, just because someone put effort into it.
And if you wanted to create a wiki to hate and trash my art I wouldn't mind at all. (However, I'd think you a moron if you created a wiki to trash other people who happened to like my art). If I put my art in the public domain then I expect people to have an opinion on it. To be upset just because someone is vocal about not liking it? That'd be damn silly of me. Either you're just expressing you're opinion, and you're perfectly allowed to do that - after all, we can't force everyone to like everything, and why should they have to shut up about it just because they don't? Or they're making intelligent and critical comments, and I can learn from it.
There is nothing in this wiki that says that you can't have an intelligent discussion about why you don't like the book. And "hating" something doesn't suddenly mean that you can't be intelligent about it. And I would never begrudge anyone intelligent conversation.
2008-12-25 [Yami]: Thank you [windowframe], No I did not put this up to be rude, but the fact is that many people seem to hate Twilight for may reasons. That is our personal opinion. I agree that if someone put up a wiki to trash my art I wouldn't care. I put my art out there, it was my own choice. To be an artist of any sort is to put yourself out there and just take what the hating people have to say, and shrug it off. There are plenty of people who swoon over this damned book, movie etc. and I for one am tired of hearing about it day in and day out.
2008-12-25 [That Nik Guy]: I expressed my opinion on the matter -- I feel that this wiki all together is a rude waste of space. Whether I'm being rude or not, I don't care at this point. I have nothing against either one of you, but the wiki is another story.
I feel that if someone puts an ammount of effort into writing something like this, and it's not blatantly offensive such as, a book promoting Hitler, or racist propaganda then it should be respected, even if you didn't like it at all.
For instance, I can't STAND, absolutely detest country music.. but I respect the fact that they were able to make it; I don't create pages talking about how I hate country music.
Also, my philosophy is not flawed... you just don't agree and as I said it's MINE, and should someone agree; woohoo. Lastly, I didn't demand anything -- I merely expressed my opinion on the matter; whether it came across as demanding or otherwise was unintended.
As I've said, I'm not fan of the book or movie -- and with that being said; I'm done talking.
2008-12-25 [windowframe]: No, you came in and said 'this IS rude, this IS immature." Forcing YOUR principles on other people as if they were facts that must be accepted you did NOT say 'I FEEL this is rude," or "I THINK this is immature" (THAT would have been an opinion). And whether you are being rude or not is an issue when you're trying to point the blame at other people for being rude. It makes you what we call a 'hypocrite'.
And no, it's not just that I disagree with your philosophy. It is flawed until you can explain it. Whining that someone should respect something just because someone else put effort into it is not an explanation, and until you can explain the reasoning for your philosophy you have no right to try and force it down other people's throats, or condemn them for not following it - and yes, you DID condemn Yami for not following it, before you object.
SO you don't make pages about how you hate country music - what do you want, a medal? You just expressed that you hate it in public though, to other people - how is that really any different to what Yami's just done? So Yami made a wiki, andnyou wrote a comment - you did the same thing, you expressed your hatred of something in public, for other people to see. Hypocrite. And don't start things you can't finish.
2008-12-25 [That Nik Guy]: Aren't we the grammatical genius? Then allow me to clarify, since you insist on nitpicking, aye? It was not my intention to come across as demanding, or condemning; I have no problem with [Yami], I just found the idea of this page to be rude and I have a big thing for art, and self-expressio
However, [windowframe] why don't you get off you high horse, and stop acting like I'm the only one being rude here -- personally I find you to be a condescending bitch right about now. The conversation was over with, and I had dropped it because I had expressed my opinion on the matter to [Yami], and she defended the page; so I stopped talking. But then you had to come in and stir shit up, just because you have a few badges and titles, does not give you the right nor authority to start shit -- the issue was over and done with if you couldn't tell from the fact that no one had said anything in three days.
No, I don't want a medal. I was simply saying that; it's fine not to like it, I don't care! Talking with your friends about it, I can see that too; but I find that making a public 'site' just to hate on it is not the same, it just comes across as incredibly rude to me. You might not agree and I don't care, that's just how I feel.
Thirdly; you calling me a 'hypocrite' is rather amusing, considering you're calling me such Because... I 'rudely' said, that the page was rude... and yet.. here you are telling me I'm being rude; while being rude, AND a condescending bitch.
NOW -- I'm done flooding [Yami]'s wiki with this bullshit, if you have more you wish to say because you simply MUST have the last word then message me, don't continue to pollute her page.
2008-12-25 [Yami]: I have onemore thing to say; most of my friends IRL are completely gaga over Twilight, and those who aren't are on Elftown. This is another reason I made this page, so that we don't have to go through and try to round up people all at once and talk about it through messages. They can all just come here and talk about it on the chat page. It makes things alot easier just to do it that way.
2008-12-25 [That Nik Guy]: I vote that you just go and delete all the previous comments, so this place can start new. :]
2008-12-25 [windowframe]: No, I'm not nitpicking, and I'm not point out grammatical flaws - dunno what you're reading, but it's certainly not what I wrote. I'm reading what you wrote, and taking it that you meant what you said. If you didn't mean what you wrote, that's not my problem. I'm not psychic. This was my point in the first place - you did not mean to be rude, yet that is how you came across. Perhaps it would have been prudent of you to give Yami the same benefit of the doubt before jumping down her throat calling her immature.
I'm not acting like you're the only one being rude here. I cam in and expressed my opinion on a public page. I'm allowed to do that. You replied, so you cannot place all the blame for "stirring shit up" on me. If you didn't want the conversation to continue all you had to say was "sorry, I'm not watching this page anymore." and not reply, and that would have been the end of it. If you're allowed to have your say, then I'm allowed to have mine, too, surely? So why am I being called a shit-stirrer for expressing my opinion, but you expressing yours was fine? Secondly. What on earth have my badges got to do with anything? Please note that you are the first one to bring them up, which suggests they matter far more to you than they do to me. Why assume that I am who I am because of a few pixel badges? Where's your logic to justify that assumption? I am who I am regardless of elftown titles, thanks.
I'm pointing out you were rude, not criticising. You were criticising, therein lies the difference, and for you, the hypocrisy. I make no pretension of being holier-than-th
I'll say everything I have to say in public thanks, because I have nothing to hide from anyone. I love it when people try to use the reverse psychology to stop the other person getting the last word they so desperately want. :P And if Yami thinks we're polluting her page, then she can say so, and I will stop. You, however, are not the page owner, and unlike you, I don't see disagreement as "pollution". I'm an intelligent person and I like intelligent debate. If you need the last word, just call me a bitch again and be done with it. :) (There's nothing intelligent in that for me to respond to, so I won't, and thus you'd get your last word).
Incidentally, I'm sorry you find me condescending, since I truly am trying to talk to you like an equal. What is it which you find condescending? (IF I don't know, I'll probably end up saying it to someone else, too, and then another person will think I'm being condescending).
2008-12-25 [windowframe]: I vote you don't delete them. I don't see any reason why anyone should be ashamed of the comments here, but if you think they'd put new people off, then a few pages of normal "chatter" will bump them to the history. And no, I'm not just disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing; I just don't like comments deleted for no reason. :(
2009-01-01 [Lord Josmar]: Wow. This is the reason why I like these kinda things, because there will always be some kind of intense situation. I kind of agree both ways on this. Creating a wiki so that people can talk bad about something might be offending to some, but people have no right no come into such a a page and tell you that what you are doing is wrong. It would be the same as me going to a Twilight fan site and saying " THIS BOOK/MOVIE WAS UTTER CRAP AND ALL COPIES SHOULD BE BURNT AND YOUR ALL TOOLS!!!!!" Not only would I be met with hostility I may end up getting hurt. So the way I have always seen it is that if you don't agree with a site then don't go to it. Just turn and go the other way. And I apologize ahead of time if this stirs the hornet's nest again.
2009-01-02 [Pnelma Tirian]: Well! This is exciting. :D
2009-01-05 [Les chansons d'amour]: Golly! I dont think [Yami] meant any harm. I studied literature for three years and books are written to have fans and you know, you can't win over everyone. Same with films. Books are individual to the reader because every person has their own view on it. This is simply a wiki for those who disliked it to get together and find things that are alternative that we might like. Nothing more. Nothing less.
2009-01-05 [Yami]: Thank you sweetie
2009-01-05 [windowframe]: books are written to have fans
I'm not sure I'd agree with that as a generalisation
2009-01-06 [Pnelma Tirian]: Heehee! Rainbows, you win extra brownie points for the use of Golly! <3
2009-01-28 [Piercedskull]: *pops out of nowhere*I dislikes Twilight cause it is over populated.I'll admit,In the movie,James,Ja
2009-01-28 [Yami]:
2009-01-28 [Piercedskull]: Seriously?
2009-01-28 [Yami]: Yep
2009-01-28 [Piercedskull]: omegawd...lol
2009-01-28 [Lord Josmar]: This is a GRAND victory for us!
2009-01-28 [Pnelma Tirian]: AWWW YEAH
2009-01-28 [Yami]: it is
2009-01-28 [Les chansons d'amour]: ahahahaha!
2009-01-28 [Piercedskull]: *falls*Hooraw?
2009-01-28 [moira hawthorne]: I suggest as a addition to this wiki... that we list our favourite vampires...
2009-01-29 [Yami]: Sounds good! Alucard from Hellsing is my fav ^_^
2009-01-29 [moira hawthorne]: you should make a wiki under
The Twilight Haters-Sign up as a member of the haters.
Twilight Hater Chat-Come chat with the others, discuss the horrid movie and books.
so they dont get lost in comments history
2009-01-29 [Yami]: Ok!
2009-01-29 [moira hawthorne]: mine fav... David from Nancy Kilpatrick's books... but I also paid homage to Lestat... Vampire D... and The Count of Monte Cristo of Gankutsuou
2009-01-29 [moira hawthorne]: favoite should be spelt favourite
2009-02-03 [de Morte]: It should, much more fun! Hello!(happy to find this place!)
If you've ever looked at the author and "Bella," you'll notice that "Bella" is a younger version of the author! Can anyone say its her wet dream book?
2009-02-03 [moira hawthorne]: *cough* marysue *cough*
2009-02-03 [Lord Josmar]: I have recently heard that they have cast Dakota Fanning for the next movie. not sure what part though.
2009-02-06 [Rice]: BY FAR ANNE RICES VAMPIRES ARE THE SHIT!
Ahem.....but they are..8(
2009-02-06 [*Leric*]: bah, i used to like twilight before it became the new fad, but i never thought it was great. stephanie meyer is boring. and the movie sucked bullocks. i'm glad to see someone finally relized how bad the serious sucks and made a page for it -_-
2009-02-06 [*Leric*]: and dakota fanning is playing jane. (only reason im going to see the next movie) i love dakota.
2009-02-06 [Give Me Red]: YEAH love it why didnt i think of this
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: Why don't you guys like twilight?
2009-02-07 [Rice]: Because it is a rushed plotless pile of crap.
I have read better things on the wall of a public toilet.
The characters are 2-D and lack any likable traits, I could write better half drunk and after just coming out of a coma.
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: Wow...Interest
2009-02-07 [Rice]: Just my opinion though obviously.
If I am honest i hate all romance books, but the vampire/human clique has been used so often now that any book which uses it instantly grates the mind.
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: Oh,twilight is the only vampire/human clique that I've read.
2009-02-07 [Yami]: (Side note to previous conversation) Dakota is in the movie push as well as playing Coraline in well...Coralin
Misty you should read Bram Stoker's Dracula, it is much better of a read that This Sparkle BS
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: My library doesn't have it,it was stolen,at gun point.*laughs* It was on the local news.
2009-02-07 [Yami]: You could probably read it online somewhere, hell going to a video rental place and renting the movie is better than reading Twilight.
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: Maybe they have it at a book store in Gainesville.
2009-02-07 [Give Me Red]: umm i dont remember what its called but theres a website where you can read dracula for free...
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: Oh?
2009-02-07 [Give Me Red]: yeah idk where it is though...
2009-02-07 [~Crimson Angel~]: oh,ok.
2009-02-07 [*Leric*]: google it or something :] you'll prolly find it.
2009-02-09 [Glassphyxie.]: Uhm, has anyone else heard about all the violent Twilight fans that have been attacking people who dislike Twilight? :/
2009-02-09 [moira hawthorne]: in Real Face to Face Life? or from behind the safety of thier monitors?
2009-02-09 [Glassphyxie.]: Real life. Like...attacks
2009-02-09 [moira hawthorne]: that must have been amusing to the mall security... you sure there are no werewolves in the book? lol
2009-02-09 [Lord Josmar]: And they say that videogames and music causes violence in people.
2009-02-09 [Glassphyxie.]: And apparently someone got acid thrown in their face over it. Twilight is no longer just books and a movie, guys. ): It's a cult. PULL OUT THE HOLY WATER. MAN THE HARPOONS. Etc.
2009-02-09 [moira hawthorne]: future PETA fanatics!
2009-02-10 [Lord Josmar]: Good lord. Its people like that who make me question whether humanity has the right to be the dominant species on this planet. I mean I have seen things get very popular, but this is absolutly ridiculus. The other day I was listening to someone talking about the fifth book and how it is going to be the FIRST BOOK BUT IN EDWARDS PERSPECTIVE! And worse then that they were worried that Stephanie Meyers wouldnt be able to tell his story well enough because he is a vampire and she is a mortal....thos
2009-02-10 [moira hawthorne]: that vampires are fictional characters has likely also gone over their heads
2009-02-10 [Pnelma Tirian]: it's because stupid people breed faster than more intelligent people do. Our dominance on the earth has less to do with quality than it does with quantity.
2009-02-10 [Glassphyxie.]: GUYZ! SHE WONT BE ABLE TO TELL THE STORY WELL. OMFG. END OF THE WORLD. SUPER SAD FACE ):
QQ, Twifags. Ugh. xD
2009-02-10 [windowframe]: They have a point - she won't be able to tell story the very well because she's a mortal and he's a vampire and it would take imagination for her to tell his perspective well.
2009-02-10 [*Leric*]: the first story wasn't told well either -_- really. i'd get tired of obsessing over some sissy vampire and his weakling. bella isn't the least bit interesting. and vampires aren't vampires if the don't toast in the sun. it's unnatural. the whole sparkling deal was clever, but that's all i'll give it. it's stupid.
2009-02-11 [Yami]:
2009-02-11 [moira hawthorne]: i dont think yami liked the sparkles.... its just a hunch... but im leaning that way
2009-02-11 [Pnelma Tirian]: Now, now, let's not jump to any hasty conclusions.
2009-02-11 [Yami]: lmao I think you may be right
2009-02-11 [moira hawthorne]:
soooooooo what's up with
Twilight Rp ???
2009-02-11 [Yami]: That was made WAY before the twilight Hype and actually has nothing to do with Twilight XD I just like the name Twilight and put it to a free based rp XD lol
2009-02-11 [moira hawthorne]: I figured as much... but it was fun to tease you
2009-02-11 [Yami]: ;P I figured someone would lol Don Henrie Lovers LOOK HE DOESN"T SPARKLE! Lmao XD
2009-02-11 [*Leric*]: who's don henrie? ;o
2009-02-11 [moira hawthorne]: aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
2009-02-11 [Yami]: He's a vampire he was on the show MadMad house.
2009-02-12 [Give Me Red]: http://www.web
2009-02-12 [Pnelma Tirian]: Iunno. I hope you guys enjoy Bram Stoker's Dracula more than I did. I mean, theoretically, it's a really gripping book, but....in execution...?
2009-02-12 [Glassphyxie.]: Carmilla is really good too.
2009-02-19 [The Forgotten Messenger]: *walks in*
2009-02-19 [*Leric*]: i'm about to make myself a Twilight sucks shirt o.< who wants one? LOL
2009-02-19 [moira hawthorne]: thats a goood pun actually
2009-02-19 [Yami]: I do!
2009-02-20 [Lord Josmar]: I would love one of them! I'm surprised that they haven't already started mass producing them elsewhere.
2009-02-20 [moira hawthorne]:
2009-02-22 [Glassphyxie.]: Do want.
2009-02-22 [Yami]: I think I'm going to make a Twlight Hater Shirt
2009-02-22 [*Leric*]: hehe
2009-02-22 [Lord Josmar]: Nice.
2009-02-25 [Swollenfish]: Pseudo-vampire
2009-02-26 [Lord Josmar]: I almost died the other day. I tried to explain to a friend, A FRIEND, why I don't like Twilight and after about a few minutes of heated debate they threatened to come over the table and choke me.......they scare me now.
2009-02-26 [*Leric*]: watch this -> http://www.you
2009-02-26 [moira hawthorne]: she looks like she has downs
2009-02-26 [*Leric*]: ROTFL! I always tell my half brothers they have it XD they act like they do.
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: I seriously couldnt watch the whole thing tho....
2009-02-27 [*Leric*]: I didn't either. o.<
2009-02-27 [*Leric*]: five minutes of who gives a shit. but i thought she was a good example at least.
2009-02-27 [windowframe]: I thought it was hilarious. <.<
2009-02-27 [de Morte]: So many people need to die.
2009-02-27 [The Forgotten Messenger]: Honestly I haven't seen this movie......but nice shirt.
2009-02-27 [Yami]: Thanks ^_^
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: I like it! Fucking sparkly vampires >_<
2009-02-27 [Rice]: Those damn sparkles...¬¬
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: If there was one way that you could make vampires gay, Stephenie Meyer did it. :/
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: hhhhey dont knoke gay vamps! they some awesome gay vampires...
awesome shirt1 dont get egged while wearing it1 good luck!
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]:
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: I was referring to the legend becoming gay, not actual gay vampires. :) I'm well aware there are gay ones, and as long they don't sparkle, that's okay!
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: Id perfer if you didnt use being gay in any negative meaning thx u
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: It's nothing against their culture either. It's an umbrella term in my kind of area that generally refers to anything unsatisfactory
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: yes... and its immature and distasteful... plz grow up... and stop being sexist no matter your excuse
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: Sexist? I never once said anything to that effect.
And my dialect is my dialect, go bitch about it to someone else as far as I'm concerned.
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: its not a dialect.. it has nothing to do with with you are from... I asked you politely to stop using being gay to refer to something as you put it, unsatisfactory
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: That's not it at all, it has nothing to do with being sexist towards their culture. It's just a general term for something unsatisfactory
And I suppose it's my sociolect then, if not dialect.
2009-02-27 [*Leric*]: That's right. It's a derogatory term and it's offensive. People wouldn't allow me going around saying. "Wow, that's so puerto rican," or "That's so black," because it would offend people. Just saying..
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: *headdesk* why do stupid people always defend their ignorance rather than admit they made a mistake and accept the opportunity of learning offered them?
2009-02-27 [Swollenfish]: Has anything I said been understood? *sighs*
And as a leaving comment to [moira hawthorne], don't judge me before you get to know me alright? I am not an ignorant person in the slightest and just because I happen to use what you view as "derogatory" as an everyday part of my language, which I use with no malice behind it at all does not make me ignorant.
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: yes it does!
2009-02-27 [*Leric*]: *facepalm* -_-
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]:
2009-02-27 [Glassphyxie.]: Pardon me, but, I don't think it's rude or ignorant to say that something is "gay" if you don't mean it in a negative way toward gay people. I'm bisexual. And I have plenty of homosexual friends. And all of us say that things are gay. In fact, ignorant wouldn't really be the right word, anyway. Seeing as how [Swollenfish] seems pretty educated. Sexist would be the wrong word, too. Sexist would be someone saying that women are stupid. Or they belong barefoot and pregnant. Don't start slinging insults if you don't know the meanings of the words you choose. I'm not trying to pick a fight. I just think it was pretty rude how you started attacking [Swollenfish].
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: 15:43:05 (4h ago) [moira hawthorne]: Id prefer if you didnt use being gay in any negative meaning thx u
that what I started with... it was only after he continue to defend his mistake that I got frustrated with his blatant ignorance and yes stupidity! which he demonstrated by refusing to acknowledge his error and taking this as a time to learn and grow... and yes sexist is the right term1 making negative comments or connection to anyone due to their sex... male female gay bi or otherwise is sexist
2009-02-27 [Glassphyxie.]: sex·ism (sěk'sĭz'əm) Pronunciation Key

1. Discrimination based on gender, especially discrimination against women.
2. Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender.
Dictionary.com says you're wrong. And so do I. Nobody should have to feel guilty for saying something just because someone doesn't agree with it. If the world worked that way, nobody would be allowed to have an opinion. Sexism applies to gender. Not sexual orientation.
2009-02-27 [Les chansons d'amour]: The term in which it was used was offensive. Im gay and someone referring to it as a term as 'unsatisfactor
Tbh I know people refer to things as gay - usually I don't give a toss, but to then say that they used it because they saw something as unsatisfactory isn't very nice.
Just my opinion on the whole thing. Yup.
2009-02-27 [Glassphyxie.]: It may not be very nice to some people. But he wasn't trying to be a douche. So...
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: he was being a douche when he didnt apologize at the beginning when I asked him very nicely not to use the gay as a derogative term1
and now you are being a douche for arguing that the word sexist is limit to only being derogative to woman... when they are just the majority... your own quoted definition even uses the word especially... meaning not exclusively!
even so if anyone here comes up with a better term than sexist... Ill use that... but that isnt the point... [Swollenfish] was being rude.. I asked him very politely to refrain and he began an arguement using excuses to reason why he had rights to be rude...
2009-02-27 [Glassphyxie.]: I gave an example of how it could be used. I didn't say it was limited to just women. Learn to read. And don't start insulting me. Aren't you a bit old to be picking fights with a 19 year old boy and a 17 year old girl on the internet? And you called him ignorant. Ha.
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: you said I used it wrong and than put up a quote that was not diffinate to prove why I was wrong... so no you just didnt give an example of how it could be used
and as a 44 yr old I have just as much right as anyone else to argue on the internet...
ignorant means uneducated... if anything Im the one trying to educate here!
2009-02-27 [moira hawthorne]: I'D LOVE TO HEAR WHAT [Yami] WILL THINK OF ALL THIS ASWELL
2009-02-27 [Glassphyxie.]: I put up a definition from Dictionary.com
2009-02-28 [*Leric*]: Fact is, it IS a negative term. Whether the people using it in that manner of speaking acknowledge it that way, or not.
2009-02-28 [Lord Josmar]: YEA!! Well I'm rubber, your glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you *sticks tongue out and makes rasberry noise*. I think the proper term would either be homophobic or derogatory. I think the second applies more since the first portrays a fear of gays and lesbians.
2009-02-28 [*Leric*]: I said derogatory in the first place, buddy.
2009-02-28 [Pnelma Tirian]: I think using 'gay' to describe something in a derogatory way is about as inoffensive as fondly calling someone 'nigga,' or describing something as 'retarded.' Yes, you can do it, and with the right company it's not a big deal, but it's...not really advisable with mixed company. (I apologize for using these words, by the way, I try to avoid them even when using them as examples.)
Just to throw my two cents into the fray.
